Taking a Collaborative Approach to Hemophilia Management
Tim Boonstra, RPh, Pharmacy Manager at Fairview Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders, discusses the collaborative approach taken at his clinic in the management and treatment of patients with hemophilia.
All our patients are required by our government grant to come in on an annual basis for what they call a comprehensive clinic appointment. And at that appointment, they meet with all the various disciplines: physicians, nurses, social work, physical therapy, and pharmacy. We have a huddle room where we go to and share what we learn when each of us visit that patient during that appointment. And that appointment is a long one, it’s about a 3-hour long appointment. But it provides valuable information to what’s going on with that patient that day.
