A recent study has found that air pollution may contribute to the aging process and adds to previous studies that found breathing polluted air can harm the lungs, according to MD Magazine
. Investigators examined more than 300,000 and determined that ambient air pollution was associated with lower lung function and increased chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). After analyses, investigators noted that higher exposure to all pollutants showed significant associations with lower lung function.
Boys aged 12 and 13 will be offered the HPV vaccine in all British schools from September in an effort to prevent thousands of cancer cases, according to CNN
. In total, the HPV vaccine program could prevent more than 100,000 cases of cancer by 2058. Besides protecting boys, the new development will also help reduce the overall number of cervical cancers in women, through a process known as "herd immunity."
Black and younger women face elevated risks of developing breast cancers that are not only aggressive but also less responsive to treatment, a new study confirms, according to Reuters
. Researchers found that non-Hispanic black women were more than twice as likely as white women to be diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. The researchers also found that when women were diagnosed with a late stage cancer, it was more likely to be triple-negative.
